Food for the Gods

Preparation Time: 20 minutes

Baking Time: 30 minutes

Total Preparation and Baking Time: 50 minutes

Yield: 16-20 pcs.


1 1/4 cups All purpose flour, sifted

1 cup butter (about 2 sticks)

1 cup granulated white sugar

1 cup brown sugar or brown coconut sugar

3 eggs

1/2 tsp. baking soda

1/2 tsp. banking powder

1/4 tsp. salt

1 cup dates, chopped

1 cup walnuts, chopped

1 Tbsp. vanilla extract


Directions

  1. Cream the butter and add the sugars.

  2. Add eggs, vanilla, and beat until light and fluffy.

  3. Add flour, baking, baking powder, and salt and mix until well combined.

  4. Add chopped date, walnuts, and mix until well incorporated. Avoid overmixing.

  5. Bake at 350F for 30 minutes or until it comes out clean with a toothpick.

  6. Divide into rectangular pieces, wrap in cello bags or color foil squares and enjoy!
